Create

Permission requirements
  • Vault Files and Directories
    • Create files (needed to upload)
    • View their directories and their groups' directories
    • Create directories (also needs “Add items to directories”)
    • Add items to directories

Access Vault Directories​

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the My Files section on the left panel.

Create a New Directory​

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the My Files section on the left panel.
  3. Click the New directory button in the top center panel.
  4. In the prompt, enter the new directory name.
  5. Click Create directory.

You can also right-click a folder in the tree and select New Subdirectory to create a directory inside it.

Where you can create a directory​

New directory appears in My Files, in your own folders and inbox folders, and in a group's folder when the group gives you Create Directories. It does not appear on Group Directories or Inboxes themselves, or in Shared With Me, Shared By Me, Downloads or Trash.

The Directory Name field follows these rules, and shows the quoted message when a rule is broken:

  • Required: the name cannot be empty. Message: "You must enter a name for the directory".
  • Length: the name has at most 80 characters. Message: "May not exceed 80 characters".
  • Characters: the name cannot contain any of /\|":*?<>{} or a NUL character. Message: May not contain any of /\|":*?<>{} or NUL.
  • Unique: no other item in the folder has the same name. Message: "Conflicts with another child".

Directory Name Requirement

You must enter a name for the directory

In the directory creation prompt, enter the directory name, then click Create directory.

Directory Not Created

Failed to create directory

Check Permissions and Retry

Check that you can create directories in this folder, click Refresh, and try again. If it keeps failing, contact your administrator.

  • You can also access file actions by right-clicking the highlighted file.
  • Directories are folders that help you organize your files. You can drag and drop or upload files into any directory.

Refresh Created Directories and Files​

  2. Click the My Files section on the left panel.
  3. Click the Refresh button in the top center panel.
