Logout & Exit

Access Your Logout Menu​

  1. Go to the Open user menu icon in the toolbar.
  2. Select the Logout option.

Logout from Your Account​

Location: Open user menu > Logout

  1. In the Log out dialog, click the Log out button on the right, under "Log out of tiCrypt" and "Your session will be terminated."
Result:

tiCrypt ends your session and returns to the login page. It does this even when the server cannot be reached, so your decrypted key never stays in memory.

tip

Press Ctrl+Shift+L to open the Log out dialog from anywhere in tiCrypt. Log out has the focus when the dialog opens, so pressing Enter logs you out.

Closing the tiCrypt Connect Application tears down its connection to the secure enclave and to all your virtual machines. Your virtual machines keep running; only the connection ends.

Cancel Logout from Your Account​

Location: Open user menu > Logout

  1. In the Log out dialog, click the Cancel log out button on the left, under "Stay logged in".

The left panel counts down: "Stay logged in. Automatic logout in N seconds." If you do nothing for 60 seconds, tiCrypt logs you out.

Exit the tiCrypt Deployment​

  1. Go to the Open user menu icon in the toolbar.
  2. Select the Exit option. It carries your deployment's name, for example Exit tiCrypt Edge, and appears only in the Connect Application.

Get Help From Your Helpdesk​

If your administrator has added helpdesk entries in System Settings, they appear in the user menu below Change Password. An entry is either a link or a phone number.

  1. Go to the Open user menu icon in the toolbar.
  2. Select the helpdesk entry you need. A link opens in a new window. A phone entry is a telephone link that your computer hands to its calling application, if it has one.

If the menu shows no entries between Change Password and Logout, your deployment has none configured. Ask your administrator how to get support.

Download Debug Logs​

Debug logs record the errors tiCrypt met in this window since you logged in, at most the latest 1000. Send them to your administrator when you report a problem.

Location: Open user menu > Download Debug Logs (N)

  1. Select Download Debug Logs (N), where N is the number of entries recorded.
  2. If a save dialog opens, choose a folder and click Save.
Result:

A text file named logs_YYYY_MM_DD_HH_mm_ss.txt is saved to your computer. When there is nothing to save, the menu item reads No logs to download and cannot be selected.

View Message History​

Pop-up messages disappear after a few seconds. Message History keeps the recent success, warning, and error pop-ups so you can read them again.

Location: Open user menu > Message History

  1. In the Message History dialog, read the messages, newest first. Each shows its type, its time, and its text.
  2. Click Close.
Result:

You see up to the latest 500 messages from this window. The history is kept only in memory, so reloading the page or logging out clears it. With no messages, the dialog reads "No messages yet." and "Any popup messages will appear here to view after they disappear."

View Time Until Your Key Is Purged from Memory​

  1. Go to the Open user menu icon in the toolbar.
  2. Read the Time until key is purged from memory timer at the bottom of the menu.

Purging your key from memory is a security measure. There is no button to purge it manually: the key is purged automatically when the timer reaches zero, which happens after a period without using the key (20 minutes by default; your administrator can change it), and the menu then shows PURGED. The next action that needs your key shows the lock screen. See Session Lock.

View Time Until Your Session Is Locked​

  1. Go to the Open user menu icon in the toolbar.
  2. Read the Time until session is locked timer at the bottom of the menu.

The timer restarts whenever you are active, so it only runs down while you are inactive. Three things count as activity: mouse clicks in tiCrypt, file transfers in progress, and input in a VM console window. Typing alone does not count. By default the session locks after 15 minutes; your administrator can change this. When the timer reaches zero, the session locks and you must enter your password again. To lock it yourself at any time, press Ctrl+Shift+P. See Session Lock.

Return to Deployment Selection From Login Page​

  1. Go to the tiCrypt login page.
  2. Click the Exit button below the login box. It carries your deployment's name, for example Exit tiCrypt Edge.

Only use this option when your institution has two or more deployments in use.
