Deleted Users

Prerequisites

User Role:

Sub-admin, Admin, Super-admin

Permission Requirements

  • User Administration
    • View deleted users
    • Restore deleted users

The Deleted Users table lists the accounts that were deleted from the Users table and can still be restored. Viewing it requires only the View deleted users permission. The table shows the Email, Last Name, First Name, Deleted, and Deleted By columns.

A deleted account can be restored only while it is in this table. The maintenance service's deleted-user cleanup permanently purges accounts once their retention period has passed, 365 days by default. Your system administrator sets the period with time-before-removal (see Deleted User Cleanup). A purged account cannot be restored by any means.

Restore Deleted User(s)

bulk-action

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Users section.
  3. Click Deleted Users in the top left panel.
  4. Select the user(s) you wish to restore.
  5. Click the Restore button in the top right panel.
  6. In the Restore <name>? dialog (or Restore N users?), read the message "Restoring a user will restore most of their information and they will be able to log in again, but their permissions and role will not be restored."
  7. Click Restore.

The following table describes what a restore brings back.

RestoredNot restored
The account ID, name, login email, contact email, department, and position. The role: the restored user is a User.
The public key, so the user signs in with the same private key file as before. The permissions: the restored user gets the default permissions. Apply a profile or set the permissions again.
The account state: the restored user is Active.
note

Deleting a user does not delete their files, drives, or VMs, and does not remove their team and project memberships, so these are still associated with the account after a restore.
