tip

To understand how Sub-admin delegation fits into your institution's role hierarchy, see Institutional Role Mapping.

View Objects Assigned to a Sub-admin

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Users section.
  3. Click Sub-admin Managed Objects in the top left panel.
  4. View all teams or projects assigned to sub-admins.

The table shows the Manager, Object, and Type (Team or Project) of each management right.

Assign Team(s) to a Sub-admin

Method one:

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Users section.
  3. Click Sub-admin Managed Objects in the top left panel.
  4. Click Create managed object in the top right panel.
  5. In the Grant a sub-admin management rights for a team or project dialog, select the Manager. Only users with the Sub-admin role are listed.
  6. Set the Object Type to Team.
  7. Select the team.
  8. Click Accept.

If the selected manager already manages the selected team, the dialog shows "The selected manager already manages the selected object" and Accept stays disabled. When the right is granted, tiCrypt shows <sub-admin> now manages <team>.

note

Create managed object also adds the sub-admin as a member of the team if they are not one already.

Method two:

bulk-action

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Users section.
  3. Click Sub-admin Managed Objects in the top left panel.
  4. Select the existing assigned team(s) to assign to a sub-admin.
  5. Click the Assign to Sub-admin button in the top right panel.
  6. In the Assign N objects to a Sub-Admin dialog, select the Manager.
  7. Click Accept.

If the selected manager already manages all the selected objects, the dialog shows "The selected manager already manages all the objects" and Accept stays disabled. Unlike Create managed object, this action grants management rights only: it does not add the sub-admin to the team or project.

tip

Use the filter Type by Team for quick access to assigned team objects.

Assign Project(s) to a Sub-admin

Method one:

  6. Set the Object Type to Project.
  7. Select the Project to Manage.
  8. Click Accept.

If the selected manager already manages the selected project, the dialog shows "The selected manager already manages the selected object" and Accept stays disabled. When the right is granted, tiCrypt shows <sub-admin> now manages <project>.

note

If the sub-admin is not a member of the project yet, Create managed object also adds them as a project Manager whose membership expires in 10 years.

Method two:

bulk-action

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Users section.
  3. Click Sub-admin Managed Objects in the top left panel.
  4. Select the existing assigned project(s) to assign to a sub-admin.

Unlike Create managed object, this action grants management rights only: it does not add the sub-admin to the team or project.

tip

Use the filter Type by Project for quick access to assigned project objects.

Method three:

bulk-action

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Projects section.
  3. Click Projects in the top left panel.
  4. Select the project(s) you want to assign to a sub-admin.
  5. Click the Assign to subadmin(s) button in the top right panel.
  6. In the Assign <project> to sub-admin(s) dialog, select one or more users in the Sub-admin(s) field.
  7. Click Assign.

This method grants management rights and also makes each sub-admin a Manager of the project. A sub-admin who is not a member yet is added with a membership that expires in 10 years, and an existing member who is not a manager is upgraded to Manager.

Assign Temporary Project(s) to a Sub-admin

bulk-action

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Projects section.
  3. Click Projects in the top left panel.

  5. Click the Manage member(s) button in the top right panel.
  6. In the pop-up, enter the sub-admin username in the Select item section.
  7. Enter the expiration date in project, set the role in project to Manager, and set the appropriate restrictions.
  8. Under Existing memberships section, tick Update.
  9. Click Save.
note

Once the expiration date is reached, the sub-admin’s access to the project is automatically removed.

Bulk Email Sub-admins Associated with an Object

bulk-action

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Users section.
  3. Click Sub-admin Managed Objects in the top left panel.
  4. Select all sub-admins from the list to whom you want to send a bulk email.
  5. Click the Bulk email button in the top right panel.
  6. In the pop-up, click Copy to copy the emails or click Download to download the emails.
  7. Once done, click Close.
note

Prefer contact email? is ticked by default. While it is ticked, the list uses each user's separately configured contact email, and the login email for users who have no contact email. Untick it to list the login emails only.

Revoke Management Rights for Sub-admin(s)

bulk-action

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Users section.
  3. Click Sub-admin Managed Objects in the top left panel.
  4. Select the sub-admin(s) from the list for whom you want to revoke management rights.
  5. Click the Revoke management rights button.
  6. In the Revoke <manager>'s management rights for <object>? dialog (or Revoke N management rights?), click Yes.
