A hardware profile is a description of what a Libvirt host offers: its cores, its memory and its devices, linked to a cost function. Each Libvirt host is assigned one profile when it is registered, and tiCrypt uses it to know how much of the host it can schedule.
A hardware profile is not a hardware setup. A hardware setup defines what one VM gets; a hardware profile describes the whole host the VMs run on.
Libvirt hardware profiles are defined in the backend configuration (ticrypt.vm.hardware-profiles in
ticrypt-vm.conf), not in the web app. The Hardware Profiles page is view-only for them: the
Create new hardware profile, Edit and Delete actions do not apply to Libvirt profiles, and Edit
and Delete refuse them with an error message. To add or change a profile, see

Access Hardware Profiles
- Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
- Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
- Click the Hardware Profiles in the left panel.
The table shows the Name, Realm, Cores, Memory and Devices of each profile.
View Basic Information of a Hardware Profile
- Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
- Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
- Click the Hardware Profiles in the left panel.
- Select the hardware profile you want to view.
- Click the View button in the top right panel.
- Review the Hardware profile panel.
The following table describes the content of the Hardware profile panel.
