Create and Use an Inbox

To receive a file or folder securely from an individual outside your organization, you must use inboxes. tiCrypt inboxes are mailboxes that allow the import of outside data into the system securely.

1. Create an Inbox

  • To create an inbox, you need to have a created directory. If you forgot how to create a directory navigate to the add directory section.
  • You must have inbox permission to create inboxes; if you cannot create inboxes inquire with your admin.

To create an inbox navigate to the tab in the section.

  • Select an existing directory you want to turn into an inbox.
  • Click the Manage Inbox icon in the top right center.
  • Follow the instructions from create an inbox section.
tip

We highly encourage an expiration date on inboxes. Individuals who obtain the inbox URL cannot ever gain access to tiCrypt.

2. Upload Files into Inbox

Once the uploader received the link to connect to your inbox; the uploader will carry out the following actions.

To upload files into an inbox navigate to your local browser.

  • Paste the URL you received in a new tab and press .
  • Click .
  • Once in the inbox, click either or to select the appropriate files from your local machine.
  • Follow the instructions from upload files to inbox section.

  • The left panel on the upload page displays the available inbox space for the uploader.
  • Inboxes may as well be password-protected as an extra layer of security. You can learn more about them from create a password-protected inbox section.

3. Delete the Inbox

Once all data has been imported to your inbox, you should delete the inbox.

To delete an inbox navigate to the tab in the section.

  • Select an existing inbox you want to delete.
  • Click the Manage Inbox icon in the top right center.
  • Follow the instructions from delete an inbox section.
caution
  • To transfer the inbox contents to a virtual machine you must delete the inbox which will turn it back into a directory.
  • Inboxes cannot be added into a virtual machine.

4. Transfer files from Vault to Virtual Machine

A user can transfer files from their vault into the VM. The act of transferring makes a copy, meaning that the original will remain in the vault.

To transfer files between VM and Vault navigate to tab, in the Virtual Machines section.

  • Select the connected VM you want to transfer to/from.
  • Click the Transfer files to/from Vault button in the center right.
  • Follow the instructions from transfer files between Vault and VM section.
