Files Directories

Add Directory

Directories are folders that help you organize your files and can be shared the same way as files.

To create a new directory navigate to the tab in the section.

  • Click the New Directory icon in the top right center.
  • In the prompt, type the new directory name.
  • Click on .
tip

The directory appears as a sub-tab of My Files. A user can drag and drop or upload files into any directory.

File Shortcuts

You can use your physical or virtual keyboard to shortcut navigation into the vault by navigating to the tab in the section.

Use the following shortcuts table.

File Tree

The file tree allows for quick and convenient vault navigation.

To access the file tree navigate to the tab in the section.

  • Click the My files icon in the top left.
  • View all the files and directories structure from your vault as shown below.
    • . My Files: all the files and directories contained in the user's vault.
    • . Group Directories: all the groups the user is a member or owner of.
    • . Inboxes: all the active inboxes the user has in the vault.
    • . Shared With Me: all files and directories that have been shared with the user.
    • . Shared By Me: all the files and directories that the user has shared.
    • . Downloads: all the resources that have been downloaded to the local system.
    • . Trash: deleted files from the vault that are moved into the trash folder.
note

The Downloads also includes all files transferred through Local transfer. You can permanently delete the file or restore the file from the Trash.

File Actions

To access the file actions navigate to the tab in the section.

  • Click the My files icon in the top left.
  • Select the file you would like to take action on.
  • View all the options in the top center toolbar, as shown below.
    • . Change Project: to classify a resource by tagging it to a project for security reasons.
    • . Delete: to send the file to the trash. From there, it can be permanently deleted or restored.
    • . Share: to open the share prompt that allows file sharing.
    • . Remove share: to remove your access to the files shared with you.
    • . View History: to view the complete history of how the file was shared and accessed in the system.
    • . Compute Disk Usage: to compute the size of each file on disk in the Size column on the right side.
    • . Rename: to allow for the renaming of the selected file.
    • . Download: to prompt the download of the file out of the secure environment onto your local workstation.
    • . View: to view the file in a secure environment.

Viewing a file may require your password in the begining.

File actions can also be accessed by right-clicking on the highlighted file.

Upload a File

To upload a file navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Click the Upload button in the top right panel.
  • Select either the Files or Directories option.
  • In the prompt, navigate to your files in your local machine.
  • Select your files and click .
  • In the prompt, preview your files size.
  • Click .

Users can also upload entire directories. All tasks done on files can also be done on directories.

Drag & Drop Uploading

The upload process applies to both files and directories.

To upload a file by drag & drop navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • On your local machine desktop, select the files you would like to upload.
  • Drag & Drop the files with your mouse over the files in the vault.
  • In the prompt, preview your files size.
  • Click .

To transfer files between your Local machine and the Vault you may use the File Tranfer Hub button in the top left panel then select the Transfer option.

  • When moving a file from your Local machine desktop to the Vault, you must wait for the blue box to show up in the bottom center.

Use the same process to upload a file into a specific directory in the Vault.

Download a File

To download a file navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Select the file you would like to download.
  • Click the download button in the top right panel.
  • In the prompt, preview your files size.
  • Click .

  • Downloading files will require you to take full responsibility for the files.
  • Downloaded files are no longer encrypted within the tiCrypt secured environment.
note
  • Project-tagged files are available for download only if you are an active member of the respective project and you have the download permissions.
  • All download attempts are registered in the logs.
  • Downloading files bypasses the browser and uses the tiConnect application.

The Transfer File Hub

The role of the transfer file hub is to move your files and directories securely between your vault, local machine, virtual machine, SFTP accounts, and cloud.

To view the file transfer hub options, navigate to tab then click the File Transfer Hub button in the top left panel.

Next, you can select any of the following options:

  • . Transfer : to transfer files and directories between your vault, local machine, and access directories.
  • . Dropbox account : to transfer files and directories from your Dropbox account into the vault.
  • . Google Drive account : to transfer files and directories from your Google Drive account into the vault.
  • . One Drive account : to transfer files and directories from your One Drive account into the vault.
  • . SFTP account : to transfer files and directories from your SFTP account into the vault.

Local Machine or Access Directory Transfer to Vault

To transfer a file to your local machine or access directory navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Click the File Transfer Hub button in the top left.
  • Select the Transfer option.
  • In the prompt, select the vault files you want to transfer on the left side.
  • Select the access file directory/local drive on the right side.
  • Drag and drop the files with your mouse into the access directory/ local drive.
  • In the prompt, preview your files size.
  • Click .
note

You may be asked to type your password to perform this action.

Dropbox File Transfer to Vault

To transfer a file from your Dropbox account to the vault navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Click the File Transfer Hub button in the top left.
  • Select the Dropbox account option.
  • In the prompt, click the Add a new set of Dropbox credentials card.
  • Click .
  • In the new tab, click .
    • Next, click .
  • Tick the Home Dropbox card.
  • Click .
  • Next, view your connected Dropbox account.
  • Click .
  • Once in the transfer window, select the Dropbox files you want to transfer on the right side.
  • Drag and drop the files with your mouse into the vault on the left side.
  • In the prompt, preview your files size.
    • Optionally, select a specific directory for the files.
  • Click .
note

To prevent data exfiltration, you can only move files from a Dropbox account to your vault.

Google Drive File Transfer to Vault

To transfer a file from your Google Drive account to the vault navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Click the File Transfer Hub button in the top left.
  • Select the Google Drive account option.
  • In the prompt, click the Add a new set of Google Drive credentials card.
  • Click .
  • In the new tab, select your google account.
    • If not logged in, type your google account password.
    • Click .
    • Next, click .
  • Tick the Home Google Drive card.
  • Click .
  • Next, view your connected Google Drive account.
  • Click .
  • Once in the transfer window, select the Google Drive files you want to transfer on the right side.
  • Drag and drop the files with your mouse into the vault on the left side.
  • In the prompt, preview your files size.
    • Optionally, select a specific directory for the files.
  • Click .
note

To prevent data exfiltration, you can only move files from a Google Drive account to your vault.

Microsoft Onedrive File Transfer to Vault

To transfer a file from your Microsoft Onedrive account to the vault navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Click the File Transfer Hub button in the top left.
  • Select the Onedrive account option.
  • In the prompt, click the Add a new set of Onedrive credentials card.
  • Tick the Home Onedrive card.
  • Click .
  • Next, view your connected Onedrive account.
  • Click .
  • Once in the transfer window, select the Onedrive files you want to transfer on the right side.
  • Drag and drop the files with your mouse into the vault on the left side.
  • In the prompt, preview your files size.
    • Optionally, select a specific directory for the files.
  • Click .
note

To prevent data exfiltration, you can only move files from a Microsoft Onedrive account to your vault.

SFTP Server File Transfer to Vault

To transfer a file from an SFTP server to the vault navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Click the File Transfer Hub button in the top left.
  • Select the SFTP account option.
  • In the prompt, click the Add a new set of SFTP credentials card.
  • Next, open your local file transfer protocol (FTP) software. (eg. Filezilla)
    • Click the Site Manager button in the top left.
    • Copy-paste the SFTP credentials from the FTP software to the prompt in your vault.
      • Host
      • Port
      • User
      • Password
  • Once you pasted the credentials, click .
  • Tick the SFTP card.
  • Click .
  • Next, view your connected SFTP server.
  • Click .
  • Once in the transfer window, select the SFTP files you want to transfer at the bottom.
  • Drag and drop the files with your mouse into the vault on the top side.
  • In the prompt, preview your files size.
    • Optionally, select a specific directory for the files.
  • Click .

File Transfer Hub Settings

The settings of the file transfer hub allow you to manage all your vault-connected accounts from one place. You can perform logouts by deleting the registered credentials, mount or unmount drives connected to your vault, and manage multiple cloud accounts simultaneously.

Cloud & SFTP Logout

To log out the Cloud or SFTP server credentials navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Click the File Transfer Hub button in the top left.
  • Select the Settings option.
  • In the Credentials section, tick the credentials that you want to remove.
  • Finally, click the Log out button in the top right.

Mount Account Drives

To mount SFTP or Cloud drives navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Click the File Transfer Hub button in the top left.
  • Select the Settings option.
  • In the Drives section, tick the drives that you want to mount.
  • Finally, click the Mount button in the top right.

Unmount Account Drives

To unmount SFTP or Cloud drives navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Click the File Transfer Hub button in the top left.
  • Select the Settings option.
  • In the Drives section, tick the drives that you want to unmount.
  • Finally, click the Unmount button in the top right.

Classify a File (Tag Project)

You can control who is accessing a file by classifying it. However, only users with special permissions can declassify it.

To Classify a file navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Select the file you would like to classify.
  • Click the Change project button in the top panel.
  • In the prompt, select the project where your files will be included.
  • Click .
caution

You can only classify files to projects that you are in. If you are not in the project, you cannot view it at all.

You can also tag directories using the same process.

Declassify a File (Untag Project)

caution

The following action requires admin permissions.

To Declassify a file navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Select the classified file you would like to declassify.
  • Click the Change project button in the top panel.
  • In the prompt, select the No project(unlocked) option.
  • Click .
  • In the prompt, click .

Delete a File

To Delete a file navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Select the file you would like to delete.
  • Click the Delete button in the top panel.

You can also delete a file by right-clicking on it and select Move to Trash.

tip

You can restore a deleted file if you navigate to Trash then select the file and click Restore button in the top right panel.

You can permanently delete files if you navigate to Trash then select the file and click Delete button in the top right panel. You will not be able to recover permanently deleted files.

Share a File

By sharing a file, you also allow access to specific users or groups to view your file.

To share a file navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Select the file you would like to share.
  • Click the Share button in the top panel of the page.
  • In the prompt, type the name of the user/group you would like to share the file(s) with.
  • Type in the user/group sharing expiration date.
  • Optionally, click the edit button to edit sharing expiration dates.
  • Optionally, click the delete button to unshare the file with users/groups.
  • Once you finished sharing, Click .

  • To view what you shared with others, navigate to Shared By Me section in the left panel.
  • To view what has been shared with you, navigate to Shared With Me section in the left panel.
tip

The groups/users you attempt to share with must be verified before sharing the file. This process prevents sharing sensitive information with the wrong people.

Drag & Drop Sharing

You can use drag & drop sharing to share your files with a user, a group, or a within a project.

Users

To share a file by drag & drop with a user navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Select the file you would like to share.
  • In the right panel, navigate to .
  • Search the user you want to share the file with.
  • Move the file with your mouse over the user name in the top right.
  • In the prompt, type the file expiration date.
  • Click .

Groups

To share a file by drag & drop with a group navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Select the file you would like to share.
  • In the right panel, navigate to .
  • Search the group you want to share the file with.
  • Move the file with your mouse over the group name in the top right.

You must be part of the group you want to share the file with.

Projects

To share a file by drag & drop with a project navigate to tab then select My Files section on the top left panel.

  • Select the file you would like to share.
  • In the right panel, navigate to .
  • Search the project you want to share the file with.
  • Move the file with your mouse over the project name in the top right.
caution

You must be an active member of the project and meet all security requirements to be able to share a file within the project. If the project is classified, the file will become classified as part of the project.

Remove File Share

By removing a file share, you are removing your access to that file.

To remove a file share navigate to tab then select Shared With Me section on the top left panel.

  • Select the file you would like to remove the share of.
  • Click the Remove share button in the top panel of the page.
  • In the prompt, view the warning.
  • Click .
caution

Removing a file share is an irreversible action. You will not be able to view, edit, or interact with the file again until it is re-shared with you.

File History

To access the file history navigate to the tab in the section.

  • Select the file you want to view the history of.
  • Click the View history button in the top panel.
  • View when the file was accessed, tagged to a project, and the users it was shared with.

You can always right-click a file to access its options.

File Rename

To rename file navigate to the tab in the section.

  • Select the file you would like to rename.
  • Click the Rename button in the top panel.
  • In the prompt, type the new name of your file.
  • Click .
note

Unnamed files get the same name upon uploading from a local machine.

File View

To view a file navigate to the tab in the section.

  • Select the file you would like to view.
  • Click the View button in the top panel.
  • Type your password.
  • View the file.
  • Click Exit to close the view.

This action helps you preview files in the vault without having to connect to your virtual machine.

Previewed file types examples:

  • PDFs
  • Video files (.mp4 .mov)
  • Code Files (.json, .py, Etc.)
  • PNGs
  • SVGs
  • MP3
  • CSV, TSV
note

If a file type cannot be properly previewed, an error message will inform the user.

PDF View

To view a PDF file navigate to the tab in the section.

  • Select the PDF file you would like to view.
  • Click the View button in the top panel.
  • Type your password.
  • Scroll down to read the full PDF.
  • Additionally, use the following options from the top panel.
    • Click the Layout Sidebar to navigate to other document pages.
    • Click the Search to find keywords in the document.
      • Click the , right-left arrows to navigate to the next keyword.
      • Click the , up-down arrows to navigate to the next page containing the keyword.
      • Optionally, you can tick the boxes to:
        • Highlight all inputed keywords.
        • Match case words.
        • Look up only whole words.
    • Type the page number in the top box to navigate to a particular page in the document.
    • Click the , Plus, Minus icons to zoom in and out manually.
      • Optionally, select an automatic view such as: automatic zoom, actual size, page fit, page width, 50-400%.
    • Click the Expand button to view the document full-screen.
    • Click the Bookmark button to bookmark the document.
    • Click the More button to select the following options.
      • Click the Go to First/ Last Page option to go to the first or last page.
      • Click the Rotate Clockwise to rotate the document view to the right.
      • Click the Rotate Counterclockwise to rotate the document view to the left.
      • Click the Text Selection Tool to select text within the document.
      • Click the Hand Tool to manually navigate across a large document.
      • Click the Vertical / Horizontal / Wrapped Scrolling to scroll vertically, horizontally or wrapped.
      • Click the No / Odd / Even Spreads to spread pages on screen odd or even.
      • Click the Document Properties... to view the document properties.
  • Click the Exit to close the preview.

Audio Preview

To preview an audio file navigate to the tab in the section.

  • Select the audio file you would like to preview.
  • Click the View button in the top panel.
  • Type your password.
  • Click the Play button in the top center to preview the audio file.
    • Optionally, click the Three dots to alter the audio speed.
  • Click Exit to close the preview.

Compute Disk Usage

To view the size of a file navigate to the tab in the section.

  • Select the file you want to view the size of.
  • Click the Compute disk usage button in the top panel.
  • View the total size of a file or directory in the Size column on the right.
