Terminals

Prerequisites
  • Access Level: User, Sub-admin, Admin.
  • Permission Requirements:
  • . Basic VM Interaction
    • View drives (inconsistent, see notes)
    • Edit drives (name and whether to disable backup)
    • View drive keys (necessary to share/attach)
    • Attach drives to VMs
    • View hardware/image setups made available to them
    • View own VM configs and configs shared with them
    • Create (and edit) VM configs
    • Spawn VMs from VM configs
    • View own VM username
    • View own VMs and VMs shared with them
    • Spawn VMs(without a config)
    • Connect to own VMs and VMs shared with them

Access the Terminals

bulk-action

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
tip

You can work on multiple terminals for the same VM simultaneously.

Connect to a New Terminal

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. In the new window, click Terminal1.
caution

Ensure you have at least one running VM before attempting to open a new terminal.

Add a New Terminal

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. In the new window, view the active terminals in the left panel.
  4. Click the Add a new terminal button.
  5. Click the new terminal to open it.

Minimize a Terminal

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the opened terminals in the left panel.
  4. Click the Minimize button in the terminal's left panel.

  • The terminal must be open to access the minimize option.
  • A minimized terminal remains active and continues to use VM resources.
tip
  • Minimize only the terminals you are actively working with.
  • Delete unnecessary terminals to manage your resources efficiently.

Split Terminals

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the opened terminals in the top panel.
  4. Drag-and-drop terminal tabs into the opened terminal window as needed.

You can split an unlimited number of terminals. However, we recommend using up to 16 terminals for organized work environments.

Maximize Split Terminals

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the split terminals.
  4. Click the Maximize button in the top right corner of the terminal.
tip

Clicking the Maximize button twice will restore the terminal to its previous split position.

Reset Terminal Layout

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the opened terminals in the top panel.
  4. Click the Reset layout button in the top left panel.

Resetting the terminal layout will minimize all open terminals.

Delete a Terminal

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the opened terminals in the left panel.
  4. Click the Delete terminal button in the left panel.
  5. In the pop-up, click Yes to confirm.

Deleting a terminal will terminate all running processes within the terminal.

tip

To globally delete terminals, click the Delete terminals button in the top-right corner of the Terminal Hub. This will delete all displayed terminals, leaving a blank tab. This function is only available for unsplit active tabs.
