What is the difference between snapshot/incremental interval and checkpoint/full interval backup?
tiCrypt backups are fundamentally distinct from traditional backups because they backup fully encrypted data.
note
All current drives are former backups that were done in the past.
Snapshot
: captures the previous change and only records the change.Checkpoint
: captures all data and makes a complete copy.
info
- Checkpoints are large backups. Snapshots are small backups.
- When you create a new backup strategy in the tab in the
Backup Strategies
section, you are performing a tiCrypt backup of an encrypted drive.
tip
- For best practice you should first, back up everything, then perform incremental backups.
- In principle,
incremental backups
are significantly cheaper thanfull backups
.
