Inboxes

Access Inboxes

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the Inboxes section on the left panel.
  3. View a list of all the inboxes you have created.

Create an Inbox

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the My files section on the left panel.
  3. Select the directory you want to turn into an inbox.
  4. Click the Open Full Menu button in the top center panel.
  5. Select Manage Inbox.
  6. In the prompt, enter an inbox expiration date and capacity.
  7. Enter the uploader's name and a message for them.
  8. Select Inbox with URL.
  9. Click Create access point.
  10. Once the access point is created, click Copy to copy the inbox URL.
  11. Share the generated link with the uploader.
note

You can create a new directory and convert it into a new inbox.

You may need to enter your password before creating an inbox.

tip

It is recommended to set an expiration date for all inboxes.

Upload Files and Directories into an Inbox

  1. An inbox URL has been shared with you.
  2. Paste the link into the browser.
  3. In the new window, click Select Files.
  4. Select the files you want to send into tiCrypt then click Open.
  5. In the pop-up, click Upload files.
  6. Once done, close the tab.

Click Select files to upload additional files or Clear uploaded to remove file names from the browser.

The URL must be shared with the external individual through a third party, such as email.

Create an SFTP Inbox

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the My files section on the left panel.
  3. Select the directory you want to turn into an inbox.
  4. Click the Open Full Menu button in the top center panel.
  5. Select Manage Inbox.
  6. In the prompt, enter an inbox expiration date and capacity.
  7. Enter the uploader's name and a message for them.
  8. Select Inbox with SFTP.
  9. Select an optional SFTP Server and Username.
  10. Click Create access point.
  11. Once the access point is created, click Copy to copy the inbox details.
  12. Share the details with the uploader.

Create a Password-Enabled Inbox

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the My files section on the left panel.
  3. Select the directory you want to turn into an inbox.
  4. Click the Open Full Menu button in the top center panel.
  5. Select Manage Inbox.
  6. In the prompt, enter an inbox expiration date and capacity.
  7. Enter the uploader's name and a message for them.
  8. Select Inbox with SFTP.
  9. Tick Enable password protection for this access point.
  10. Enter an inbox password twice.
  11. Click Create access point.
  12. Once the access point is created, click Copy to copy the inbox details.
  13. Share the details with the uploader.

The uploader must provide the inbox password to upload files or directories into your inbox.

Change an Inbox Access Point

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the My files section on the left panel.
  3. Select the inbox you want to manage.
  4. Click the Open Full Menu button in the top center panel.
  5. Select Manage Inbox.
  6. In the prompt, click Delete button near the access point at the top.
  7. Re-enter a new inbox expiration date and capacity.
  8. Re-enter the uploader's name and a message for them.
  9. Click Create access point.

Manage Multiple Inbox Access Points

  1. Once the first access point has been created, view the pop-up.
  2. Click the Add new access point button in the top left panel.
  3. For the new access point, enter an inbox expiration date and capacity.
  4. Enter the name of the uploader and a message for them.
  5. Select Inbox with URL.
  6. Click Create access point.
  7. Repeat this process to create additional access points as needed.
  8. In the pop-up, switch between access points in the left panel.
  9. Click Copy to copy the details of the appropriate access point.
  10. Share the details with the appropriate uploader.
  11. Once done, click Close.

Tag an Inbox to a Project

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the Inboxes section on the left panel.
  3. Select the inbox you want to tag to a project.
  4. Click the Open Full Menu button in the top center panel.
  5. Select Change Project.
  6. In the prompt, enter or select the project name to tag the inbox.
  7. Click Classify.
  8. In the pop-up, click Accept.

You can tag only the inboxes that you have access to. In a tagged inbox, all files become tagged too.

Forcefully Tag an Inbox to a Project

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the Inboxes section on the left panel.
  3. Select the inbox you want to forcefully tag to a project.
  4. Click the Open Full Menu button in the top center panel.
  5. Select Change Project.
  6. In the prompt, enter or select the project name to tag the inbox.
  7. Tick Use my permission to override rules, re-tag resources with any visible project, regardless of current project relations to override rules as a super-admin for inboxes that are not part of the project.
  8. Click Force change with admin privilege.
  9. In the pop-up, click Accept.
note

Only users with admin roles can perform forceful overrides of project tags.

Untag an Inbox from a Project

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the Inboxes section on the left panel.
  3. Select the inbox you want to untag from a project.
  4. Click the Open Full Menu button in the top center panel.
  5. Select Change Project.
  6. In the prompt, select No project (unlocked).
  7. Click Declassify.
  8. In the pop-up, click Accept.

Download Inbox Contents

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the Inboxes section on the left panel.
  3. Select the inbox you want to download.
  4. Click Download in the top center panel.
  5. In the prompt, preview the inbox structure.
  6. Select the destination of your download.
  7. Click Download.
caution

Downloading an inbox removes its tiCrypt encryption. You are entirely responsible for securing the files after download.

Delete an Access Point in an Inbox

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the My files section on the left panel.
  3. Select the inbox you want to manage.
  4. Click the Open Full Menu button in the top center panel.
  5. Select Manage Inbox.
  6. In the prompt, click Delete button near the access point at the top.
  7. Click Close.

Delete an Inbox

  1. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  2. Click the My files section on the left panel.
  3. Select the inbox you want to manage.
  4. Click the Open Full Menu button in the top center panel.
  5. Select Manage Inbox.
  6. In the prompt, click the Remove inbox button in the bottom left corner.
  7. The inbox will now appear as a directory in the vault.

Moving an inbox to the trash will also move all its contents. For best practices, follow the Remove Inbox workflow described above.

caution

When an inbox is removed, it becomes a file directory. You must remove it before transferring its contents to a virtual machine, as inboxes cannot be directly transferred.

Configure External SFTP Inbox Servers

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Miscellaneous section.
  3. Click the System Settings in the left panel.
  4. In the right panel, under Table of contents select External Servers.
  5. Under SFTP Inbox Endpoint Servers, enter the domain or IPv4 address to configure tiCrypt CORS.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Click Save.

Users with Super-Admin roles must configure the external SFTP inbox to enable the creation of SFTP inboxes in tiCrypt.

Upload Files Using Filezilla

  1. View your local machine on the left side and your remote machine on the right side.
  2. Search the file you want to transfer on the left side.
  3. Click the Site manager button in the top left corner.
  4. Click the New Site button in the bottom left center.
  5. Enter an SFTP name.
  6. In the right panel, select SFTP- SSH File Transfer Protocol in the protocol field.
  7. Select the Logon type to normal.
  8. Copy and paste the Host, Port, User name and Password corresponding SFTP information from your local browser into the right panel.
  9. Click Connect.
  10. Next, drag-and-drop files from the local machine on the left side into the vault on the right side.
  11. Your files will be in the vault as soon as the queue is empty.
  12. Go to the Vault icon in the top left panel.
  13. Click the My files section on the left panel.
  14. View the directory where you made the SFTP inbox.
  15. View your new files.

  • Filezilla is an SFTP software available for Mac OS
  • You may be asked to re-enter your password after clicking the Connect button.
  • Once you set up the site manager, it will always exist (until it expires) within your SFTP client, and the next time you want to add files, you can use the Quickconnect button.
tip
  • Most of the operations in Filezilla are performed in the Users directory.
  • Locate the file that you want to transfer by expanding the "/" directory on the left side.
