Terminals

Access the Terminals

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.

Connect to a New Terminal

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the available VMs in the left panel.
  4. Click the Connect button for the VM you want to open the terminal.
  5. Click Terminal1.

Ensure you have at least one running VM before attempting to open a new terminal.

tip

You can work on multiple terminals for the same VM simultaneously.

Add a New Terminal

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the active terminals in the left panel.
  4. Click the Add a new terminal button.
  5. Click the new terminal to open it.

Close a Terminal

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the opened terminals in the left panel.
  4. Click the Close button on the terminal's top tab.
  5. In the prompt, click Yes to proceed.

Closing a terminal will terminate all running processes within it. Any unsaved work will be lost.

tip

To globally close terminals, click the Close terminals button in the top-right corner of the Terminal Hub. This will close all displayed terminals, leaving a blank tab. This function is only available for unsplit active tabs.

Minimize a Terminal

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the opened terminals in the left panel.
  4. Click the Minimize button in the terminal's left panel.

  • The terminal must be open to access the minimize option.
  • A minimized terminal remains active and continues to use VM resources.
tip

Minimize only the terminals you are actively working with. Close unnecessary terminals to manage your resources efficiently.

Split Terminals

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the opened terminals in the top panel.
  4. Drag-and-drop terminal tabs into the opened terminal window as needed.

You can split an unlimited number of terminals. However, we recommend using up to 16 terminals for organized work environments.

Maximize Terminals

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the split terminals.
  4. Click the Maximize button in the top right corner of the terminal.

Clicking the Maximize button twice will restore the terminal to its previous split position.

Reset Terminal Layout

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the opened terminals in the top panel.
  4. Click the Reset layout button in the top left panel.

Resetting the terminal layout will minimize all open terminals.

Delete a Terminal

  1. Go to the Virtual Machines icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Click the Terminals section on the top left panel.
  3. View the opened terminals in the left panel.
  4. Click the Delete terminal button in the left panel.

Deleting a terminal will terminate all running processes within the terminal.

Commands to Use in a Terminal

Terminal commands depend on the tasks being performed. The primary commands to start with are info and view.
