Licensing Servers

Access the Licensing Servers in the Management

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
  3. Click the Licensing Servers in the left panel.

View the Existing Licensing Servers

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
  3. Click the Licensing Servers in the left panel.
  4. In the list, view the existing licensing servers' name, ports, protocol, active status, group, deactivation, creator and creation date.

View the Basic Information of a Licensing Server

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
  3. Click the Licensing Servers in the left panel.
  4. Select the licensing server to view basic information.
  5. Click the View button in the top right panel.
  6. In the left panel, under Basic Info subsection, view the licensing server name, server, ports, owner, group and creation date.

Create a New Licensing Server

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
  3. Click the Licensing Servers in the left panel.
  4. Click the Create new licensing server button in the top right panel.
  5. In the pop-up, enter the server names then click the Add button next to them.
  6. Enter the ports, protocol selection, optional group and deactivation date.
  7. Click Register new servers.

Select Between TCP and UDP Protocols When Creating a New Licensing Server

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
  3. Click the Licensing Servers in the left panel.
  4. Click the Create new licensing server button in the top right panel.
  5. In the pop-up, enter the server names then click the Add button next to them.
  6. Enter the ports, optional group and deactivation date.
  7. Under Protocol, select TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) or UDP (User Datagram Protocol).
  8. Click Register new servers.

  • Use TCP for reliability over speed; it is slower but more reliable, making it suitable for critical license transactions.
  • Use UDP for speed over delivery, faster but can lose data, for lightweight license updates.
tip

You should use both TCP and UDP for maximum efficiency.

Select a Group Associated with a Licensing Server

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
  3. Click the Licensing Servers in the left panel.
  4. Click the Create new licensing server button in the top right panel.
  5. In the pop-up, enter the server names then click the Add button next to them.
  6. Enter the ports, protocol selection, and deactivation date.
  7. Under Group (optional), enter the group from the list associated with the licensing server.
  8. Click Register new servers.

Groups in licensing servers are simple metadata tags that assist with resource management.

Set an Expiration Date for a Licensing Server

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
  3. Click the Licensing Servers in the left panel.
  4. Click the Create new licensing server button in the top right panel.
  5. In the pop-up, enter the server names then click the Add button next to them.
  6. Enter the ports, protocol selection, and optional group.
  7. Under Deactivate On, specify the licensing server expiration date.
  8. Click Register new servers.

The expiration date helps manage licenses and prevents work disruptions caused by expired software.

Re-Sync Rules in a Licensing Server

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
  3. Click the Licensing Servers in the left panel.
  4. Click the Re-sync Rules button in the top right panel.

Refresh View of a Licensing Server

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
  3. Click the Licensing Servers in the left panel.
  4. Click the Refresh button in the top right panel.

Delete an Existing Licensing Server

  1. Go to the Management icon in the top left taskbar.
  2. Navigate to the Virtual Machines section.
  3. Click the Licensing Servers in the left panel.
  4. Select the licensing server to delete.
  5. Click the Delete button in the top right corner.
  6. In the prompt, click Delete licensing servers.

Deleting a licensing server will permanently revoke your access to it.
